Sculpted in low relief, the square tray, with rounded sides is decorated with images of the four plants against a patterned background derived from the Swastika. A symbol of longevity, the Swastika is a stylised writing of the Chinese character 'wan' which means ten thousand.
Framing the four plants is the image of the lingzhi fungus which represents the expression 'according to your wishes'. The tray fits perfectly four teacups and teapot in the Four Gentlemen collection.
